Shot south of Abilene Texas first banded duck in 8 years of hunting.

Thanks guys! I'm really proud of it he came in low and left and I was able to call him back into my spread, couldn't believe it when I saw that band. He's going in the freezer for now with a hen until I can get the money to mount him.

Not bashing, and don't take it personal, but .. you've been duck hunting for 8 years and you didn't know the difference between a redhead and a canvasback? :huh: But congrats! Awesome band!

Extremely nice fully plumed out, fully mature bird...You can't get them any nicer than that one..Congrats..

Well the truth is I originally thought it was a red head but an older man whose land I was hunting told me no it was a canvasback and the last thing I wanted to do was post a picture misidentified so I toon his word, but i managed to do anyway haha, I didn't really want to reply with that because it seemed like a copout answer lol but regardless your right I should know breeds better by now.

The duck was banded in Laurel Maryland about 1,500 miles away from where I shot him. Thanks guys!

No, that's where the banding head quarters are. Laurel, MD on the band it should say. Send the info in and see where he's really from.

Ohhh well I called it in and he just asked me a bunch of questions will it say on the certificate they email you? Or should he of told me on the phone?

Summer lake oregon hatched in 2002 or earlier banded in 2003, 1355 miles as the crow flies from his birth place. Very cool. Thanks again guys
