First Canvasback!!

Postby ky lake mud pie » Mon Jan 23, 2012 11:24 am

Been hunting ky lake hard all season for a canvas back and finally killed a canvasback. Had three try to land in the decoys and was lucky enough to take this one. Trophy of the season!

Great can! We rarely get them in the northeast. Hoping I get one in my lifetime up here.

Congratulations! My first was a nice young drake like that too.
Keep hunting them. It's all downhill from here.

Thank you all! I was really happy to get this one. I just joined this website, but have been on these forums like crazy for the last 6 months or so. I was new to diver duck hunting last year and didn't have any clue what i was doing. There is a wealth of information on here and i really appreciate everyones help with everything. I have had an excellent season and I'm form western ky where everyone hunts mallards and i have been doing just as good as them and i honestly enjoy diver hunting better, it's always exciting not knowing what might come in next. So thank you all who have helped me have a good season.

haha i wish you would have told me a little sooner. it's already at snyder's. it wasn't as grey but it wasn't pure white. but i may take you up on hunting next season. my buddy will be suspended because of the whole Calder poaching deal. he got into a little trouble with clint. glad i never went with them!
