Here's my attempt at painting some divers for this season I actually was able to purchase 10 dozen blank decoys from a garage sale so I didn't have to paint them black so that's a plus also got another 6 dozen old dekes that will have to be painted black then the color will go on. I am new to this so let me know what you think. I am going to do the GE next and then the scoters. hoping to be complete in a day or two and I'm gonna have hopefully close to 200 when finished. A big thank you to scauphunter and BBBD for their info on how they did theirs to give me some good ideas. also picked up some rig em right gang rig lines to go with them. I'll post some pics of all the finished birds soon.

The GHG is to show a comparison of the paint and colors used on both decoys. Thanks for all the compliments I just got all the decoys rigged on 100' long lines and have 4 lines completed. I decided to not bother with the GE dekes and just use my buddies GE's for this season and see if it makes much of a difference. I will post pics soon of the 8oz lead weights I poured and the long line anchors with info on how to make those as well. Getting excited for this season and ready to shoot some birds, it should be a good one. :grooving: :grooving:

I used Flambeau blanks that I bought direct from them. They come in a case of 4 dozen for 60 dollars and as far as I am concerned they are the best you can use because you don't have to worry about painting them to cover old paint and their is no issue with paint chipping.

I have plenty of Flambeau mallard decoys. Too many actually. Do you think I could paint them up like bluebills, or do you think they would be too small, or just not look right in general?
I painted buffleheads that are too big and redheads that are a little too small. They will work fine. The ducks should see the black and white on the water no matter what.

about 4 years back we were doing a decoy painting booth for a kids hunting day and when we called flambeau customer service to order some decoys we just explained we were looking for blanks for kids decoy painting and they said ok and gave us the price. after talking to CS for a few min we found out that the general public can buy them as well at the same price so I went ahead and bout 40 cases for the decoy painting and a few cases for myself and the other guys involved. I havent called to check if they are still selling them like this but i know that this is where DU goes to get their blanks for their decoy painting booths for kids also and same with Delta.
