that's what I thought but the bill didn't have a distinct ring so it got me second guessing myself

this is actually a redhead hen, have LOTS of them down here on TX. coast. similar to ringneck, but no ring on bill. hope that helps

Immature redhead hen, no stripe on the bill, and yes ringneck hens do have stripe on the bill

I can show you quite a few ringneck hens, in hand, that have no pronounced ring on the bill.

I have done a lot of research and looked through a lot of identification books and according to them it is a immature ringer that's why its ring on it's bill isn't very visible.

If your not sure what it is you can always label it in your kill list as "other".

What did its wing look like? Red heads have a solid gray wing and ring necks have a little white
