will she hunt?

Yeah or nay on whether i could hunt open water divers with my rig. we would be sitting about 150 yards off the shoreline... works great on a marshy shoreline, just leary on sitting out in the open where the divers are hanging out.

Add cedar, you will do fine!!!
layout boat is always best for open water but you will still kill ducks...

thanks for the input. i might try just leaving the blind down and putting a few grass mats over it to lower the profile.....

I would agree that hunting divers from a layout is the way to go. But you should have some luck with this rig I'd say. I asked how big because you mentioned a shoreline. If bad weather rolls in, you'll need a little bit of a large boat. I'd say if you got a good amount of decoys, with the right setup you should have some success.

That's how I would do it. I hunt out of a 16' Jon boat that is shinny aluminum, just sit fairly still.

Agree with the above but, I would add, if your blind is removable, leave it at home and drape gray canvas or gray material over the sides (gunwhales) of the boat. There are guides here that seaduck hunt with gray canvas over the sides of their boats, every day. It will work either way.
With divers and seaducks, the biggest thing is to lower your profile as much as possible. They come in right off the deck and usually are not coming from above in most cases.

Do yall's divers have any sense at all? By the time they get here you can stand in the middle of the decoys in a yellow jacket and still decoy them and they will even land 10 yards from you.

Three buddies and I shot a flock of 17 birds in 4 passes once, after the shoot a hail call would bring them back.

Divers like committing suicide! It's fun and some times pitiful to watch a group come back right after getting some of them shot out of it.
