Reults Of 4th Season Hunt With Ocean State Outfitters

Postby Daffy Ducking » Fri Jan 18, 2013 7:59 am

Once again Jeremiah of Ocean State Outfitters didn't let us down this year!! I traveled to Massachusetts with 5 friends and we SHOT OUR BUTTS OFF!! We had a great mix of birds and even bagged 2 Red Breasted Mergs to gift to a friend in Washington State! All of my friends, except one, this was there first time hunting Eiders so, it was great to see the smiles on their faces when they received their first mature Drake Eider!! Jeremiah took us to a pier where we grabbed up on right around 60 Live Lobsters right off the boat! Another memorable trip with friends and Ocean State Outfitters!!

Thanks again Jeremiah for the great hunt and hospitality! I will be back up again next season I'm POSITIVE with a few repeaters as well!!

First of all, good shooting, hunting eider and sea duck is tons of fun!! But why no bands? Seems like every time I see a picture of OSO every dude has a banded bird in his hand :lol3:

That's funny you said that because we busted his chops about the group he had in camp the week before us SLAMMED banded birds and even got a transmitter and we got not One Stinking Band!! We got no bands but, it was a Great Hunt and a Very Good Time!! Thanks!!

Nice. OSO would probably be my first choice for pay to play in that area.

OSO are a great group of guys no doubt, but check out The Swampers and Black Duck Outfitters too, they also are amazing guides on the East Coast. Ruben Perez is also a great guide!

How difficult is it to fly into Massachusetts with guns? Someone also told me you cannot buy ammo unless you are a resident? Is that true?

True, can not purchase ammo as a non resident. Air travel is pretty easy, decalre your weapon, trigger/action lock and locked case is all you should need, your airline company will have rules. Some allow ammo in original packaging to be in the locked case.

IMO, MA is the most difficult state to hunt in New England, read the regs carefully.

Thanks tgs. I guess it might be a good idea to bring your passport as well. In this day and age, I'm a little leery of visiting foreign countries.

Chip is was another great hunt! I appreciate all the kind words as well. Can't wait to have you guys in camp for Striper and next season sea ducks!! I also think were all coming down for some blue crab......crabbing!

Let me tell you about Massachusetts & hunting/buying ammo!

It isn't bad for non-res hunters. Just the use of a trigger lock and case while transporting your weapon. You can't transport your ammo with your weapon, but we all use a blind bag for duck hunting so that isn't a big deal either.

Now ammo.......NO!!!! As non res you can't purchase ammo but most of my hunters buy a case and have it shipped prior to the hunt! Most of the time Rogers has free shipping on ammo and your excess ammo can be flone back home with you (in the original packaging) in your checked baggage just not in the same case as the weapon.

Massachusetts is a hunter friendly state allowing some awesome waterfowl hunting in fresh and salt water. There are no hidden rules that your gona find influencing out of state hunters. We are checked plenty of times during the season in MA with no incidence!
Just make shore you are properly licensed with all stamps and your HIP, all can be purchased on line prior to your hunt!

Hope you all have a great 2013-2014 season! Thank goodness turkey season starts soon!
