Calling divers

Postby Bmallory410 » Mon Jan 28, 2013 8:32 am

Hey guys, I'm not real big on calls... I have a few but I seldom call but ive heard that divers are very responsive to calling in my area (fl gulfcoast)... What calls have you guys had luck with?... I bought one of the those faulks diver duck calls but it sounds kinda odd. Any input?

A diver's call sounds more like a bark than a quack...it is very short, raspy and not extremely loud. One can do it with a standard mallard call but the diver calls make it easier to do (I've had a big river diver call for years and use it regularly). Just a few short barks as they approach or swing by will many times rurn them into the decoys. Don't over do it and you won't hurt a thing.

I just use my voice. Pretty easy to replicate once you hear it.

Sometimes it turns them, sometimes it doesn't. Never seen one flare from it. I have seen them respond to a mallard call as well.

I just use a regular mallard hen call. Pretty easy to call them in.
