Storing decoys

Postby Tyler » Wed Jan 19, 2005 10:47 pm

I am fairly new to duck hunting and I just have 27 decoys. I have 21 mallard decoys and 6 pintail decoy. I would love to start hunting for divers but how do yall afford all those decoys. Do you buy 2 dozen decoys a year or what. ALso where do you store all those decoys?? I live in ALabama and I have the tennessee river and elk river that is 5 minutes away from my house. Where do diving ducks like to hang out on rivers. I know this is alot of questions but im trying to learn as much as I can. Good luck hunting. Tyler

Compared to some people i don't have many decoys ( 70 mallards, 18 bluebills, 6 canvasback, and 10 a mix of other species. Plus my 80 snow goose decoys. I just keep them in our garage. Whenever i get extra money i buy more dekes.

store mine in the garage. i buy dekes as i can afford them.off of points of islands are good spots to set out diver dekes. set them in a line they seem to like that best. you can get divers with even just a few diver dekes. more is better though.

yeah you can kill divers with a dozen dekes. my cousin has used just a couple super mag diver dekes, and killed divers. i started with a dozen and killed alot of divers with that dozen. start with a dozen and work up to more. i only have 4 dozen. which isnt alot of diver dekes compared to others. but hunting divers on rivers is different than on big lakes or reservoirs.

What kindof divers are you shooting on a river ? And could the missippi river be good for divers ? Where we own 300 acres along the shores of the missippi and two corn fields. Thear are two islands out thear and we have a point and own alot of backwater.

Diver hunting

Postby Tyler » Wed Jan 26, 2005 7:08 pm

Hey my computer has not been letting me get on here and for some reason it will only let me get on while im at my grandmothers house is where i am right now. For the last 5 days i have been having my password change and been talking to Chris about my user name and password. For some reason when I put in my user name and password it will say invalid password or user name. I ask if he could wipe out my membership and let me then re register but maybe it will work eventually. I live in Northeralabama. I was wondering what time of diving ducks travel down the mississppiee river and do they also travel down the tennessee river or elk river. I live pretty close to those last 2 rivers. Well thanks for the info. Tyler
