2013-14 Layout Boat Hunting Video

Postby Krete » Sun Dec 22, 2013 5:15 pm

Had a whole whack of footage to go through from this year's layout boat hunts on the big water, and here's some of the best of it. Had some issues with camera angles and things earlier on in the season, but had 'er all figured out for the last 3 or 4 hunts. Saw some extremely impressive flights and rafts of birds this season, and got into some great shooting as well.

Watch it in 720p!

It's a cheap rain jacket from the local liquidation store. They had them on sale for $10 and they were the perfect colour grey, so we bought 5.

Yes they are the right color. Feel like shipping a couple?

What camera were you using

I'm in Ontario, so not really, lol!

As for the camera, the entire video was filmed with a GoPro Hero2 in 720p at 60fps.

Very very nice. Has to be one of the more difficult types of hunt to film for sure. Some good shooting too.......

What do you use to edit videos?? I'm having trouble splicing some videos together and making it smooth, as well as a clear picture.

I'm filming in 1080P, and the footage looks awesome when I view it, except when I put it into a video editor it looks like crap.

I use Corel Videostudio Pro x6 Ultimate. It's a great program, and is relatively easy to use. Depending on the program, the imported file may look blurry or of low quality within the editing program, but as long as you export it as an HD file, you shouldn't have an issue. Again, make sure you render the video as an HD video, and that the file type is supported on youtube.

This video was filmed with a GoPro Hero 2 at 720p 60fps. Visually, it's impossible to notice the difference between both 720p and 1080p, and on this camera, the frames per second is higher at 720, allowing for smoother video.

Good luck!
