I'm not trying to sound like a dummy but I'm not sure. I knew it was a somewhat debated issue so I was gonna see what the people say who have/haven't done this

I used flat clear coat. On mine...no idea if it works, decoys look good though, I just decided why not?

True dat, thats kinda what Im thinking too. However I have heard people have concerns about them yellowing over time. I was thinking extra protection until then may keep them looking better than if they lose 90% of the paint. Im kinda up in the air about it.

Krylon 1311 is the best matte finish for decoys. I recently reapinted over 100 decoys and decided the cost to coat them $6/can/dozen decoys wasn't worth it for divers they aren't the smartest birds and I can get 2 seasons before they really need repainting
