last year the calling contest at the Arkansas Outdoors Expo was the 1st we have put on, we learned alot and realized the organization and planning of it left something to be desired. We have changed the name and are planning on it being 100% better than last year, with cash prizes and some nice duck hunting gear.

The 2012 Toad Suck Open Duck Calling Contest will be help August 19th at the Arkansas Outdoors Expo, starting at 11 am and will be presented by Falling Mallard Farms Outdoors

This year there will be 3 classes of contests:

Main Street – (90 Second Limit)
Senior Division(Any Age) registration fee $25.00
Youth Division(15 or younger) registration fee $10.00

Meat – (Arkansas Style) 90 Second Limit
Senior Division(Any Age) registration fee $25.00
Youth Division(15 or younger) registration fee $15.00

Teams – (anything goes) 90 Second Limit
Single Man registration fee $15.00 per person 4 man Limit, If registering online please enter team members names in text box and select the amount of tickets needed for the teams. 4 team member will need 4 tickets.

Rules

Registration

Registration is open from July 1st at 7:00 AM until August 19th at 10:30 AM. Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after August 19th at 10:30 AM. You may register at the Falling Mallard Farms Outdoors booth, booth 132 or register below online.

Judging Criteria

Contestants will be judged on their ability to summon a flight of ducks using each of the following four calls: long-distance call, mating call, feed call and comeback call. Competitors have 90 seconds to complete their series of four calls. Three different classes (Mainstreet, Meat, and Teams) are each judged according to class.

Contestants

Competitors will be identified by number only during the contest and remain isolated from the judges prior to performing. Each will have a designated location in which to perform his routines and must face the audience. Calls may not use any type of electronic assistance.

Judges
Judges award up to 10 points per call and up to 10 points for the overall routine, for a possible total of 40/50 points per contestant. A contestant’s highest and lowest scores are discarded and the remaining three scores are added for the final total.After the first round of calls, half of the field (those with the highest scores) will return for a “callback” to continue competing. After Round 2, the three top finalists will compete in a second callback. The highest scorer of the second callback will be deemed the winner.

Prizes

Percentage Payout

Winners (1st place) of the individual contests will collect 50% of total registration fees for the event won, 2nd place will receive 10% of total registration fees for the event won, and 3rd place will receive 5% of total registration fees for the event won.

Various Prizes

On top of payout, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place callers will receive a plaque and other prizes to be named at a later date.
