It seems that if you do any kind of hunting on one of the 16 WMAs in this program you have to have the permit. I went ahead and signed up to keep out of potential trouble.

Never mind. I don't hunt any of them anyway. Also, sorry if I came off as a bum about the whole thing.

Attempted to register. My driver's license # is too long and won't fit. I'll talk to them about this at AGFC when I get to Jonesboro.

So there was no permit required when hunting WMA in arkansas in years past? I have only hunted Federal Refuges. In La, you have to buy a permit so at least its free here.

The federal lands have permits u must sign here too. Well atleast the ones I have been to. There isn't a fee but it seems like its a tool to make sure we understand the regs to each area an to alleviate the folks that say I didn't know. Pretty easy to find and the kiosk area or any local gas station close to the refuges usually keep a bunch on hand. Or just print em out online.

The purpose of the program is to provide a more diverse hunting opportunity within Arkansas. When I hear diverse at work I usually see more minorities walking around the plant. I'm not sure exactly what that means but if you don't have your permit I'm sure It means you get to pay a fine. Hurricane lake is on the list and when it floods in those bottoms the deer go to higher ground so there is nothing to manage. I better double check to make sure I can still carry a full box of shells this year and if 12 ga. shotguns are still allowed. We may have a limit on the amount of decoys allowed or the candlepower of our spotlights.
