Came down to hunt.... not too good

Postby eire » Tue Jan 08, 2013 7:54 pm

Well I made the trip last week to AR to hunt ducks.. Did some on flooded rice, the woods and a holding pond that was probabaly 20 acres. The hunting was scarce at best. I think all those tv shows might have been edited with extra ducks put into the videos? Seen a few here and there but nothing compared to North Dakota. Maybe just caught it on a slow week but overall, book reading would have been a better bet in the blind. I loved the people, and the town we hunted. that was all great. I had my first buffet of catfish, shrimp and frog legs. The frog legs were awesome. A first for that and I loved em... tasted between perch and smelt. yum yum..
I hope everyone has better luck than our group did! Good luck down there!

Arkansas is just like any other spot I assume.... sometimes slow, hit and miss, just part of it.

Will this rain the next few days be enough to get the rivers up? Will be down supporting the local economy next weekend.

Smelt are a large minnow that people eat up here...cut the heads off, rip out the guts, batter em, and throw em in the fryer...good stuff...;)
