Anyone teal hunt this morning?

Postby ol' yeller » Fri Sep 15, 2006 10:48 am

I couldn't make it out myself, but will this afternoon. I'm looking forward to shooting a whole lot of teal over this...

There were 1,500 Wednesday, 600 yesterday and hopefully more showed back up today. We have to move our blind to a different location and then we're going to try to shoot a few this evening.

Well, here's the report. Most of the teal left out last night before we could hunt. We had at least 30 wood ducks in the decoys at one time 30 minutes before sunrise and they continued bombing into them. We were ticked and the dog was especially ticked. Around 8:00 the teal that were left started flying and we ended the hunt a little after 9:00 with 6 teal (4 bluewing, 2 greenwing) even though they were still coming in to help the landowner vaccinate 88 head of cattle. Talk about fun there.

Ol yeller,
Glad that you had a productive hunt...we hunted this morning and seen 1 bird only!! I was a little disapointed, but thats hunting!!

Greenster,
Sorry to hear that, I have been in your situation many times, best thing to do is keep your head up and think positive.

greenster, that sucks, bud! Been there done that before.

ohsobad_hunter, you're right. At least we didn't get skunked. It's hard to go from seeing 1,500 teal a couple of days ago to only seeing 100 or so, but, as you said, that's hunting.

We did good yesterday morning and the Tuesday and Wednesday of last week...the teal were everywhere....in fact, last Tuesday and yesterday I killed 2 birds with 1 shell. They were in pretty tight groups of 15-20.
