I'm not too far away in Oklahoma. We don't have any either. I just wonder if they have passed us by with the cold front over the last week.

I don't think they have arrived yet. In southern Ontario, they are usually gone by opening. Our opener is this weekend and I havn't seen one yet, so hopefully they are just a little lait.
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

We had 1,500 on a private lake we hunt around Van Buren last Wednesday. Thursday we had about 600. We hunted Friday evening and didn't see but maybe 50. Hunted Saturday morning saw a couple hundred and shot 6. Sunday nothing. What I'm trying to say here is they're here one day and gone the next.

We did really well this morning...we shot a 2 man (8 birds) limit in about 15 minutes. Kinda fast, but there were a lot of birds flying. I shot a duck that looked identicle to a bluewing teal, but it had orange feet. Could it be a cross breed, or do cinnamon teal have orange feet?

mat, thje bird you shot could have been a ciniman teal or it couod have been a shoveler. the are similar to teal in color, but are just a little bigger and have a spoon shaped bill.

Sounds like you shot a spoonie. They're closely related to be bluewing teal and you can kind of see it between the large blue patches and even the bills look a little alike.

yes they are colcored alike in the early season, but they dont have slimiliar bills, idenification before pulling the trigger is a good practice.

I wish I would of gotten some pictures of it...turns out, it was a cinnamon teal....pretty rare around here. It was eclipse, so it made it hard to tell. I know it wasnt a shoveler, I have seen plenty of them...

Definately!! There are quit a few woodys flying around here and they catch your eye, just like the teal do. Just slow down and make sure of your target, teal are easy to identify.

p.s.- killed another cinnamon yesterday. Thats two this year!!
