greenster, it's very hard for me not to drive down to the local park and shoot me a limit of mallards. If this season doesn't get here soon I'm afraid I'm going to snap!

Im in the river valley too and it seems we have a difference of opinions.
Ive been scouting all week long and have never seen as many birds as there are here now. Im talking groups of 500 plus sitting on back water i the Ft. Smith area. Simply awesome. River is down/up depending on which side of the lock you are on. Lock and Dam 13 is under some construction and they are holding water back.

Actually i told them nothing. The river valley is massive. If ya know where they're at, ya know where they're at. Otherwise you'll never find em. And most "invaders" won't put the effort into the scouting it takes to find birds hunt after hunt, so i think we're fine. Heck give me a holler when the season starts and i'll even take ya with me on some hunts. Seriously, im a good guy.

Never underestimate a South Carolina boy on vacation or a topwater with a boat and time on his hands

Don't think that you're the only one to have seen them birds neither.

I drive over millwood dam almost every day. There are tons of honkers out there but I have not seen too many ducks.

I don't usually hunt on the arkansas side, but I figured I would be seeing more ducks by now. Maybe this screwy warm weather is keeping them north of us.

Come on rain...flood the timber in my honey-hole of slews. I'm ready to bust some quackers.

Boy did one week make a difference! It turned off cold at nights and we got some rain this week. I saw a good couple of sets of greenheads heading to work day before yesterday.

I've been driving all over ashdown in my work truck practicing with my calls. I turned a group of 5 around yesterday...I'm thinking it's going to be allright this season...even if opening day is going to be a bluebird kinda day.

Good luck to all of you, and come back safe!
