I hunted up in KS over the thanksgiving holidays. Got into them pretty good. The birds sure are a lot more dumb up there. Couple quacks on the kazoo and in they come.

Have a lot of ground to cover from 0630 - 0730 tomorrow. Season opens back up Thursday, I'm all over scouting them out so there is no chance of failure. I know what's going to happen, Artic Front will change everything and my efforts will go to heck like most always.

I've shot 5 wigeon this year, never shot one before this season. It may be a crazy year, been shooting mostly big ducks and very few teal. Hopefully those big red legs will be coming in early this year with the arctic blast we're about to get

We've been getting some Big Mallards, with red legs already. Kinda wild.

Well I was on the scout this morning - I'm calling it right now (limit on Gadwall in the morning). Gonna hug a Cypress Tree in the swamp, birds flying in for an hour. After scouting from the ground, I took to the air - couple of dozen mallards on one pond, 1 dozen on another, 50 on our roosting field. Over all didn't see that many anywhere. Going to save mallards for the freeze, they are on flooded fields with pumps to run during the night. Another Fail Safe Plan! LOL

I don't know if it was the barametric pressure or what, but Ducks were slow to fly this morning. Just seemed like they'd gotten a weather report and were saving energy. It's raining and down to 35 on this side of the state - 1300 hrs.
We made this blind, while waiting, this morning.

We had 4 Drakes, 1 Hen, a group came in and the next thing we know we have 5 of each and a Gadwall. Could've limited but were careful not to take another Hen. Also, this is our big roost field, so we go in around noon and make it a rule to be out by 4pm, before the big flocks start coming back in. It was a great day of Duck Hunting! :sniper:

Nice stuff guys, roads were way too tricky to get out today in the hill country, got a spot picked out for the morning, if I can survive a couple hours of 0-10 degrees I may scratch out a few.
