Do I read the regs right. Bal of State we can take four Aleutions or Cacklers or comb. of both. Weren't these resricted to one last year?

Ya, you read it right

I think it was 2 last year.
these birds (Aleutions) have come a long way from being completely
off limits just a few years ago to a 4 bird limit.
I remember being afraid to take a cackler worried it might be an Aleution.
most people could not tell the differance.
I know I have a hard time. something about a white band on the neck of the Aleution?

I remember Delevan and Sac would warn you if they had Aluetions
in the area. to be extra carefull when shooting a cackler.

I wonder how many guys got in trouble.

I can remember back to about the 1984 season...we were at Mendota in the sweatline when they suddenly posted the emergency closure of Cacklers on the check station.

If I recall correctly, I think it said there were less than 20 thousand of em' left at that time.

Never thought I'd see the day where we can wack FOUR of em.

alutians have a kinda broad white neck ring, there a little bit bigger too, cullman is 32-40 cm where as the bill on a cackler is only 32 or less, there calls tell them apart easy, cacklers are way higher pitched and a little faster, cacklers have a short neck and puffy head too. don't you guy's have goose identification classes you have to take?? don't shoot any aleutians. we can only have 2 cacklers, so try not to shoot any of those either. :tounge:

yeah, me too. I'm not scared to take one, or four. they set the limits that way for a reason. So I feel it's our obligation to take as close to the limit as possible.
