Postby PinTeal » Sun Nov 20, 2005 10:21 pm

I think I am gonna go set out on ThanksGiving if there are big numbers of snows around--are there? Thanks!

Hi Jeff,
I was hunting this weekend near Chico. I saw more Spec's and Honkers than Snows. I did see some Snows, but not like it gets when it's good! I went through the refuges (Sac, Delevan,Colusa, Howared Sl. and Liano Seco on the way in and out. I saw some snows there. Hope this helps. Good Luck, Ron

Thanks Ron. There are a few more days still before Thursday, hopefully we'll get some more down. If I have permission to hunt the field, I'll go out there by myself, if not, I'll sleep in, not too big of a deal. Anyone else on sutter?

Swans as in swans, or as in white geese?

Hay Jeff,
I hope you can see them. This picture was the beginning of some huge flights over our club. The cold weather is starting to have an effect. I saw thousands of geese this Saturday. Mike And Pete shot 3 nice Specs on friday.[img][/img]

Thanks Ron. I can make out the geese in the pic. I drove down the levee today at the refuge again...Man, there are a ton of specs! Not a whole lot of snows, but they're there too. I am not sure how much duck hunting I'll be able to do this year...the blind I use is going to end up getting sold this week :( Guess I'll have to start chasing the white geese a lot more now. I cannot complain though, I've gotton a lot of nice hunts the past 2 years for free.

i was out at the bilnd just south of the sutter refuge sat morning and at least 6-7000 snows got up south of 113 just about 8 am and flew up the baypass toward the refuge.

the wind was coming out of the north and it was blowing about 40-50 up where they were as it was stopping them cold in flight. i just stood up and watched them as the ducks were no where to be seen.

it was cool watching them hover over your head and giving it all they had to make a few feet per minute.

took that flock close to half and hour to go over there were so many.

i'd say there are a few there.

up in that area we have quite a few swans. haven't taken their pic this year but they are back in the same place.

this is one from last year.
