ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............YEAH!!

I'm going come hell or high water...or bird flu.

probably hit the NE opener, then book it home to fly out to Canada. Going to Sask for 5 days. then get home, get ready for the BOS opener.

i'll be starting the season just the way i like it. little to no sleep at all, and putting on the miles.

Heck, I'm moving all the way to Wisconsin in September just so that I can shoot ducks a little earlier.

Well, maybe I'll go to school a day or two a week. :umm:

Plans still are unmade.

Will likely go north for geesages.

Maybe in B.C in early Oct if my company has me up there for business. Otherwise it's going to be the NE area... then as ACEbuilders put it - the BOS.

I'm hoping that before hand I can get in a pig hunt locally and a deer hunt up north as well.
All this for a bowl of borscht.

Absolutely.....I know exactly where I will be and who will be sitting next to me.

A duck season opener is one of the best times in a hunter's life - and it comes around each year.

This will be my 43rd opener.

The anticipation is always high....

the stories of past seasons shared over and over the night before....

can't sleep....

checking my gear, and then checking it again....

making sure my license is in order with all the right stamps (Fed stamp signed), and then placing in my shirt pocket in the same place it will be for every hunt....

walking to the blind listening for the sounds of quacks, whistles and wings raising birds to the sky as they hear me coming through the marsh.....

adjusting the dekes 'one' more time...

removing the gun from it's case, and working the action...

placing shells in the gun and extras in my pockets...

calls on lanyard are 'tuned' one more time before daylight....

Coffee it hot......

the marsh is still......

And then----------------it's shoot time and my head is 'rotating' around like a crazed animal - searching the sky for that first shot of the season.

Bring it on baby...bring it on.

Seriously duckfan, That almost brought a tear to my eye. It really helped me escape the reality that I'm at work right now at my desk.

I'll be out there on the opener for sure.

Oh well, I can't think of a better reason to miss it...

Hopefully I can get up there Sunday.

"Dear Omnipotent Being,

Please allow ACEblders to shoot as many coots as he wants on opening day. No need to let him shoot anything else. You can save those for me.

Please return to your regularly scheduled universal guidance.

That is all."

Puddle- Have you done the junior hunt up there before? I bet that is awsome! I wish it was closer that way I could take out a junior. I bet I could get some good footage too!

Goodluck up there! Hopefully I'll be there for the opener!
