As I've tried to do in past years, here is the DFW table of posted shooting times. Hunt hard, life's short.

of course they do.

CWA put a pocket guide to the season that includes these tables in the last issue of the California Waterfowl magazine, and usually give a supply of the pocket guide to the check stations for opening weekend. So, you can have the reference and small enough to fit in your wallet.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving isn't for you.

It's on the dfg web site and in the paper waterfowl regs booklet. I hunt up here.

Bill,

Nice copies for hunters.

One thing I have bookmarked into my smartphone is this site;

http://www.sunrisesunset.com/usa/California.asp

I sometimes find myself in areas where I prefer to check the times more specific to cities near my exact location

Take 30 min off the sunrise time and you are set

I have also used my weather apps, which have sunrise and sunset info. No excuse to "guess" legal times

If a warden was sitting on the levee watching for early shooting to the minute and really wanted to ticket somebody, I wonder if he'd use the area shooting time in the chart or accept 30 minutes before actual sunrise from a web site- the difference might be a minute or 3 max I'd guess? Thanks for links. I always check my watch with the clock at a DFG check station since that is the "official" time I was told.

Hunt hard.

FYI for ya'all. If you have a cell phone (most people do now-a-days) it will display the accurate time through you cell provider's signal. Even if you have no signal the clock in the phone will have synchronized with the cell system clock the last time it had a connection and will still be accurate. Also, most cell phone have an alarm app so you could actually set start time as an alarm. No excuse for early shooting.

I can't tell you how many times I've been at San Luis or Salt Slough and the guys across the road in clubs started hammering 5 or 10 minutes early.

Excuse? They pay a lot of $.

This is from the current regulations book:

Shooting hours for migratory game birds, including mourning doves, white-winged doves, band-tailed pigeons, American coots, common moorhens, common snipe (jacksnipe), and waterfowl for all of California shall be from one- half hour before sunrise to sunset.

If I hunt a public area that is not controlled, I look up sun-rise time (internet) for the closest city or town where I am hunting. Otherwise the check station time is what we use.
