It's my understanding that the Feds contract out with the State of Calif. to operate and run the facility, but they own it. Since it is owned by them they will close them down. They want to "make things as difficult as possible" for the people of this country to prove a point. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Just like they are spending money to close "OPEN AIR" facilities and parks that don't require any money to operate. Veteran's Memorial for example. Public accessable, no fees charged to view, no fences to keep people out, etc. BUT, they are spending money to fence these places, provide 'security' to keep people out, and simply deny the people the right to access their own facilities, they own and pay for. This is called a dictatorship!!!! Plane and simple.

Hell, ARMED patrols stopped rafters on the Colorado River even, and told them they couldn't raft down the river!!!! Now figure that one out.

What's the name of that old song by Olivia Newton John? Hmmm.

My thoughts exactly. Spending money to barricade places that are always free and open to the public is asinine. Why don't they barricade them every weekend when the majority of government is not running? It's all for spite. What really cracks me up is the notion that a few plastic barricades will stop men that have faced German machine guns and Japanese bayonet charges. :fingerpt:

Just remember, the ones that determine what to shut down is the White House Office of Management and Budget. Don't think for one minute that OJbama doesn't have a hand in this. Anyone who voted for this POS should be more then ashamed of themselves.

They're kicking people off the Colorado River with ARMED guards. They're kicking people off the OCEAN in Florida. They're kicking people out of their OWN HOMES, that are privately owned but are located in Federal Parks. They're kicking people out of OPEN AIR facilities, parks, memorials, where there are no fees collected, fences erected, personel needed. ANYONE WHO VOTED FOR THESE PUKES I DON'T WANT TO ASSOCIATE WITH. Opuke and his cronies will get their's some day. Just because we're being overun by illegal immigrants doesn't mean there aren't a number of us real Americans left.

They are starting to load up on the 99 out here in the rice.

Might be a good thing for is ricers with early water for us and not much for the refuges.

So why can't the guy that's going to put you in jail just run the place instead? Probably cost the Feds more to enforce this closure then if they just put someone there to check people in and out.

It sucks.....no doubt.

Vent your frustrations? I understand, but I wouldn’t be talking about breaking into a Federal refuge on a forum (joking or not).

There are Fed wardens as well as State wardens that visit these sites. Even have members that are law enforcement here and elsewhere.

I know these guys are just as ticked off as all of us with the shutdown. But, I also know there will be no mercy for anyone stepping onto a Fed refuge if the government is still shut down.

I am a member on 4 duck sites, and each one of them have guys talking about lawsuits, class actions, jumping fences etc. While it may be just blowing off steam, the reservation system does have a no refunds policy....period.

Those running the hunt programs (state) at all these Fed refuges are more ticked off than you can imagine.

Remember to be 'kind' to the staff and wardens you see this season. No one is happy, but don’t take it out on them.

Just my 'rant'.....and my 2 cents.

Good Luck all

I appreciate all of the good words of wisdom. I am aware that there are officers of the law on these forums. I find it funny that we the people let our government dictate who can use OUR lands. Even though they are managed and owned nationally, we pay the taxes annually and through licenses for it all. I am not looking to start a "now son, think about your actions and words" discussion. To each their own and if a man chooses to do something, then it was his choice and he can man up to the repercussions(not that I am that guy).

Enjoy the opener ladies and gentlemen.

So, here we have it. All OUR federal hunting refuges are closed. BUT....... The National Mall (closed for the Federal shutdown) has been allowed to be reopened for one day so a group called Camino Americano: March for Immigration Reform, can hold a rally for Immigration Reform for illegal immigrants. It happened today. Yup, you and I won't get to hunt on any federal land, but they can host a rally at a federal facility; which is suppose to be closed!!!

Also, thought some might get a kick out of this. I had sent that Biatchi feinstein an email protesting the federal shutdown, here's her reply:

"As a result of the Government shutdown, my office is currently unable to respond to your email. I will respond to your concerns as soon as possible."

I don't know, to me that was too funny and ironic, and very, very sad/pathetic.

These politicians are worthless.... we need to all stand up for our right to use our federal land with or without the agencies we fund to run them. They wouldnt be able to stop all the resi's from going into the parks if we all went together.
