First Time Rice

Postby bandedbrant » Wed Oct 09, 2013 3:34 pm

Hey everyone I got nothing for the refuges on opener but luckily got the oppurtinity to hunt a rice blind on the 20th. This will be my first time hunting it and I have never been to rice before. My brother and I are wondering if we can use silo socks or wind socks geese decoys on a flooded rice field? If not is there an alternate way to get some goose decoys quick and relatively cheap? How deep are the rice fields usually? Thank you all so much for the help and good luck on opener!

You can do it, but the stakes need to be longer then normal ones.
Smok'em if you got'em!!!

Sounds like you are lucky enough to have new water. Some floaters should be all you need to kill some ducks. Don't worry about the geese, they are pretty random early in the season. You are lucky, you re going hunting, I'm still harvesting rice. Have a good time, Duh...
