VETS take over National Mall... so can we!

Postby RefugeRat4Life » Mon Oct 14, 2013 12:28 pm

Why don't all of the guys who were lucky enough to draw for any of the NWRs that are closed just show up and hunt anyways? Do you think that they would really be able to stop us?

The Vets can do it... so can we!!! :hammer:

Yes I believe they can. And will. And with so many people breaking the law while armed someone would end up being shot somewhere....

stop us? Some yeah but not all initially. Would it be easy to stop outside of the gate (that was most likely bolt cutter-ed) and ticket everyone that drives through on their way out? then yeah. Plus, tresspassing, lose your gun, licesne etc..

Would it be a huge black eye for duck hunters and the duck hunting community? yes.

Vets ripping down barricades and dumping them at the white house is much more accepted by the general public than a bunch of guys in trucks "breaking into" (I used quotes for a reason) federal land to shoot animals, especially here in CA where you are hard pressed to find anyone who can relate to why we wake up at 1:30am to go chase birds.

If you can get a Congressman to do it for the photo-op, you'd have a chance.
Don Edwards is 'closed', but all the USFWS law enforcement officers are working. I'm sure they'll be at the refuge boundaries on opening weekend. With guns and ticket books in hand.

*big fart sound*

That was a right wing photo op.

The government makes sure virtually anyone willing to exercise their right to freedom of speech can do so - regardless of the shutdown. Including vets and folks that attended the immigration policy rally. For all the drama, the Tea Party didn't need to act like they were engaging in civil disobedience because they weren't. It was and will remain right wing jag off porn. All fury and spit with absolutely no risk.

At least the Democrats are willing to get arrested for what they believe.
All this for a bowl of borscht.

In their younger years (and probably still) those vets that you are poo-pooing were willing to die for what they believe.

And yes, entering the memorial that was closed by the government is civil disobedience, as was removing government barricades and taking them a half mile away to the Whitehouse.

Occupy the refuge. Get some Acorn posters, you will be golden.

Stay there till the gov. Opens up.

Oh I forgot, you need some Obama posters as well, then, you will be golden.

Who was poo pooing the vets? It's clear that the Tea Party GOP schlubs that showed up to try and own the Vets demonstration as a photo opp didn't consult the vets first:

Official Stance of the Million Vet March on the Memorials:

The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC yesterday was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle was and remains about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner. Our love for and our dedication to remains with Veterans, regardless of party affiliation or political leanings.

Feel free to check out the 60+ apolitical and peaceful rallies of the Million Vet March across the nation at our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Million- ... 7822833735.

Million Vet March on the Memorials
We are all military brats, current and former military spouses and some veterans. We cannot express how utterly disappointed we were that our Greatest Generation were being used as political pawns in the ongoing government shutdown and budget crisis. This should never be the case. We do not care...

Palin, Cruz and Lee have no honor. Thank you for clarifying your position for all Americans to understand.

The memorial and the mall is open for those who which to exercise their freedom of speech. If they were breaking the law, where are the arrests?

"Would it be a huge black eye for duck hunters and the duck hunting community? yes. "

I don't believe it would be.....most people are sick and tired of all of this Gov. bull $h!t, I think it would be a good thing to show people that hunters are not going to stand around and take the shovel full of crap they are feeding us.
Go for it !

#1. You did when you insinuated that the protestors were cowards because they weren't willing to be arrested for what they believe in.

#2. I drove by a police officer doing 60 in a 55, yet he didn't pull me over......I guess I wasn't breaking the law.

It all boils down to this....

We are being held back from doing something that we all have already paid for through the bills passed to bring tax revenue to the sport and license sales. These areas that I have hunted are run by state officials anyways.

When you bend over and take it you are bound to take it again and again and again.

Insinuation is a funny thing. People lead themselves to negative conclusions. That the GOTea goofs annoyed the vets is now record. That some Dem leadership got arrested last week for what they believe is true. The GOTea guys are all about rabble rousing - then running back to their limos.

#2. I drove by a police officer doing 60 in a 55, yet he didn't pull me over......I guess I wasn't breaking the law.

Yeah, that's a surefire why to street cred. :lol3:

Annoyed the vets? You mean, annoyed the head of an apolitical organization? How many of those vets who are members the Million Vet March do you suppose also support the tea party? I'm betting, most of them. One thing is for sure. The crowd of vets they showed on every news channel I've seen were really pissed at someone that lives in a big white house on Pennsylvania Ave.

So, to recap. The vets cut chains and removed barricades to allow access to the monuments that were deemed off limits by the federal government and there were no arrests, but 8 democrats were arrested for crowding........Nahhh, that doesn't look set up. They blocked a city street. How is that "being arrested for what they believe in"? Were they protesting cars driving down that street? Who was really posing for a photo op?

Nobody looking for street cred here. You asked "if they were breaking laws, where are the arrests?". Just thought I'd use an easy example to illustrate that not every infraction is met with action.

Are vets the same ones that cling to their guns and religion? You know the lil' tin pot dictator hates those folks. :fingerpt:
