Postby Dukslayer26 » Wed Oct 16, 2013 2:30 pm

A buddy of mine is going to try and hunt refuges for the first time this year and has got drawn for the first Wed, second Sat and second Wed already! Do a lot of people even put ressies in for Grizzly or is he just having beginners luck?

I hunt cause I love going deep into the bush and I always shoot twice!

That is lucky! Especially since the reservations for the third Saturday that Grizzly is open have not been drawn yet.

That is like magic sort of luck.

That being said, it is fairly easy to get a draw at Grizzly and Gray Lodge.

Yes, Grizzly is easily drawn throughout the year...opening and closing weekends are a different story. Make sure your buddy does some scouting before he heads out for the first. Maybe have hin walk on later in the day this coming weekend to scout/find somewhere that seems productive.

OP edited his post after the mistake had been pointed out. Not a big deal.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving isn't for you.

Reservations are easy peasy at Grizzly. Gotten all four I've applied for so far. Went in without a rezzie on Sunday, 5:30am and not a line in sight. But considering I only saw a total of 10 ducks and 2 geese all that day, if figures!

Just took a look at last years reservation statistics. Chances of getting one at Grizzly was 1 in 1.4! Some of my other favorite places:

Gray Lodge: 1 in 5.0
Yolo: 1 in 35.2
Sacramento: 1 in 37.4
Colusa: 1 in 38.9
Sutter: 1 in 51.1
Delevan: 1 in 55.5

Never tried Little Dry Creek in Upper Butte, but it was 1 in 82.4 ?????

Ldc had over 100k worth of apps last year. They only give out 25 a hunt day. Do the math. It's the most put in for refuge in the state.

I should have bought a super lotto number that day, that I signed in for res at LDC for 11/17. I got 17th if memory serves me. And we never even fired. But I was sure lucky because the stat is something like 1-200 for mid November at little dry creek.
