Cheer up guys!
We're starting to get in the bigger, chunky Greenheads from up in Canada now. Been having a giant migration of Swans coming thru for days as well, and the ducks are always on their heels here in E Idaho. We should be a pretty good indictator of what you can expect in a week to ten days.
It's only going to get better now. Friday, me and another fellow downed nine birds. Only one Mallard, one Green wing teal, four Gadwalls, and three Ring Necks.
Sunday, my group shot 17 Mallards. Nothing but Mallards coming in now. In another ten days the area here will fill up with the Honkers from up north, and we'll switch back from water hunts on the Snake river, to field hunts with full body duck and mixed Honker dekes.
It will be nothing but Honkers, Mallards, an occasional Sprig, and rarely a Snow goose.
Point is, you should be seeing our Gadwalls, Teal, and Widgeon showing up soon, and the bigger ducks right behind them to all points west and south of us, and probably the majority going to the central valley there.
I wish you much rain and many birds as soon as may be.
So the words Fall and Autumn are not to be capitalized?
They are in my world.
