Who had a worse reservation pull then me?

Postby Duckmansmoon » Sun Jan 05, 2014 1:18 am

I put in for all hunting days for San Jacinto and Wister and only pulled on on 11/24. Who beats me with zero pulls?

Well you only put in for 2 places. Were you expecting much.
Guys put In for every refuge on every shootday and get a handful a year.
And to my point I am 4/104

The thing is though, you northern guys can put in for a bunch of places within a 2-3 hour drive.

We usually only have San Jacinto and Wister depending on where you are at....... and even then wister is a 3 hour drive.

This is the normal amount for Southern guys and then also maybe kern.

Ya it is really tough to get one down here, it's even worse when you have 70 people here for the sweatline with only 50 blinds on the place

Iv pulled 15 out of 250 so far with I think 6 being grizzly island which is a guarantee. Lots of wasted cash!

I am a SoCal hunter so yes I really have only two options on where to hunt. Last year I was able to pull 6 for Wister and one for Kern. My friend pulled 3 straight days at San Jacinto 1/1, 1/4, and 1/8 and this is his first year hunting.

I am 23-340.
1 for LDC
2 for Sac
The rest were down in Los Banos.
6 for one grasslands refuge, and 5 for another. All the others were mixed.

Put in for every hunt day at Sac, Delevan, Colusa, LDC, Howard. Drawn 2 so far, 1 Howard 1 colusa, and they were early in the year so even though they were low numbers there was hardly any birds and it was 70*.

0 for 84! Did I win? I guess winning $4,340 at Colusa casino in 2 trips cancels out my bad luck on the draw?

Depends if the gambling was done before or after shooting hours.

2 for 81 at San Jacinto, Wister and Kern so far, a low number at Wister and a high number at San Jacinto. Still waiting to find out about 1/22 and 1/25 I really feel I will draw a low number at Kern & Wister both of these days.

I've heard that Jr. hunters get a better chance. Would like to hear how their odds are doing.

My son has drawn two @ San Luis and four for grizzly in his 124 apps, I'd say no they don't.

.
When I was a junior hunter I got pulled every weekend. Of course there were a lot of high numbers at Banos but still a draw every weekend. Even pulled 3 #1s in a single season. I have been quite the lucky drawer of our hunting group as of today. Didn't apply much this season because of money and the recent joining of a club but still did decent in getting sac a few times along with a couple yolo draws. I think junior hunters are a bit more lucky in draws but that's just coming from me.

"Depends if the gambling was done before or after shooting hours."
I always hunt, just not on a reservation this year.
First win was on Monday after the pheasant hunt at Sac. going to pick up birds at Vaca's Bird cleaning in Colusa I shot Saturday.
2nd win 2 weeks later on Sunday going to drop off birds at Vaca's. First year I tried Vaca's... I think I'll keep going there. Update to follow. Lots of hunters in there this year trying their luck too I've noticed. I'll be at the buffet Friday night, then maybe, just maybe...lighting will strike thrice.

are there not only 47 hunt days for public refuges?

I've not done well my self with 2 of 89 and both pulls were for the Lodge.......

maybe I need to start putting in for the southern refuges.......

Cause and effect

Folks talk about places on the net/how they did, etc. = those places get harder to draw each year
