How did you do last day? pic heavy

Postby wanapasaki » Sun Jan 26, 2014 4:02 pm

Yesterday my girlfirend and I along with a buddy went to kern and got on during the lottery. We ended the day with 1 sprig, 1 wigeon 2 spoonies a teal and 2 speckbellies. If any of you know kern usually 2 geese are taken per day. I also shot an older speck on wednesday. Specks back to back on the kern, I'm getting the hang of these guys. Too bad season is basically over. How did you all do and where did you go? Kern was real slow these last 2 weeks. Alot of birds have already left.

I hunted yesterday with friends and decided to call it a season. 3 of us ended up with 14 ducks and 2 honks.

Here are some GWT from Mendota and the next is my dog retrieving a bull sprig at Los Banos last Sat. Saturday I asked another DHC member from Fresno to come along. It was his first refuge hunt. I had a ressi at Los Banos. It was also my first time at that refuge. We had a great day. There was some good activity early with mostly teal. At about 10:30 the skys were empty and blue. A nice breeze was blowing making the decoys move some. But, that was all that moved for the next 5 hours. We stuck it out though and at just past 4pm birds started showing up. We only had about 8 decoys out but we noticed the birds would swing short of us and land out of range. We jumped out and pulled all the decoys except one and now the birds would come all the way into range. In that last hour we pulled 3 bull sprig and a hen widgon. total was 3 spirg, 2 widgon, 2 GWT and 1 redhead. It was a great hunt and made a new friend.

It was a fun closer. It was nice to see an abundance of teal.

I went to a Vietnamese restaurant and had a good dinner with a huntin' buddy.

That is all.
All this for a bowl of borscht.

I give to you... King Eggroll!

I might get a strap of peking duck there next time I go... They were a Vietnamese place that served Chinese/Vietnamese grub. They used to fry pigs and birds but I don't know if they do that anymore.
