Yeah...a 5 (4/1) seems to make more sense with 3 consecutive drought years and reduced California hatches. I'd support a 5 (4/1) on mallards even if they were thick as mosquitos though...plucking 5 mallards takes long enough and I love to eat them but don't want to eat them EVERY day of the week.

No one says you have to shoot 7. If you don't agree with it on principle, than only shoot 4/1. Why try to dictate what others can do?
For that matter, only shoot 4/0.

If you think the Mallard limit should be less than what was regulated, than shoot your 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1. Don't come on here and piss and moan and what the feds proposed (they have the data and #'s to support such-do you?) and what the CDF&W set in stone today.

Serious question- when is the last time you actually shot a 7 mallard limit? And, if you did, how many times afterwards did you strap 7?

I think you should be more worried about what the water situation will be this upcoming year.

Well, there ya go- shoot your 5 Mallards (if you can) then GTH off the refuge so I get my permit and hopefully get my 7- although I'd take 1 and be happy I was able to get out in the marsh and enjoy myself.

I'd be happy with just getting out, and giddy if I got a canvasback and a couple scaup haha...I try not to set my goals too high otherwise I'd be disappointed (like my salmon season went this year)
