Shot Trap Today

Postby quigby979 » Thu Aug 07, 2014 12:28 pm

Went up to the Sun Mountain Gun Club and shot some trap. I was very rusty....the Rem 870 I was 50% and the tristar I couldn't hit anything. Its amazing how from one gun to the other how different I shot. I definitely need more practice.

Yea it does happen , gun fit for different clay target games can be a issue .
Trap targets would be a good exercise for jump-shooting birds but if you're practicing for wingshooting birds ,
talk to Richard and ask which Sporting Clays station would give you right-to-left's , left-to-rights , coming and going targets .
It would cost very little more shooting these , other than trap targets , and benefit you more !

I was shooting the middle and the traps to the left fairly consistent. But the trap out to the right Was my trouble shot. I will make it a weekly trip for the next few weeks to try to improve on it. Its only a 45 min drive from my house. I got a business card on a Willy Cherry to get a little instruction. It can't hurt. Has anyone heard of him? Kim Iverson from Sun Mountain recommended him.

Quiqby978, I will assume you are are a right handed shooter? Dont ask why, but for some reason most righties will shoot better on targets moving left to right and the opposite for lefties. I do the same and so do my brothers. The only thing I have found to aid this deficiency is shoot both eyes open. For me it makes quite a bit of difference. Give it shot if you don't already.

You have ten weeks to practice !!!

Willy is a great guy to help improve your shooting ,also, Dan (Whitehurst ? ) is a frequent instructor there .

Sporting Clays targets would be a better option , though !

Thanks 3200, I will give Willy a call. I have never tried the sporting clays. I will have to give it a try.
