Bravin the storm

Postby #1wingnut » Fri Jan 04, 2008 9:11 pm

2 words.................. holly crap
My wife said a guy would have to be an idiot to go out in a boat in that mess.
I guess Linc and I are a couple of idiots, but idiots with a boat load of birds
It took a half a box of shells to get the lead figured out. and 2 box's (each) to kill 4 limits for 2 guys. limits of ducks and geese.
7 specs 5 honks 12 ducks. We lost 2 ducks in the storm so Linc decided to do the right thing and call it a limit anyway. both of us scotch doubled on geese, Linc on specs and me on honks. we killed all 5 honks on 1 up. The mallards were far and few between we tried to wait'm out but it got a little chilly after we got soaked to the bone. so we killed what came in. :hammer:

we had a couple guys in a canoe down river from us that sailed bird after bird and never made ANY attempt to retrieve em. we had 2 of their specs (the only ones they got) fall dead in our hole. also a sprig sailed over and died right in front of us and we already had ours. They paddled by us on the way out and we made them take their birds. They left the sprig cause they already had 2 in the boat
and thats ALL they had. WHAT FRIGGIN LOOSERS !!!!!!

Anyway it was a great hunt. thanks Linc, you are a true blue, stone cold, duck killin machine  see you Tues night for wed's duck fest.

I think I'll sleep in tomorrow. I'm beat and I have a #1 resi for Wed.
Heres a pic of the meat pile. I have more but for some reason they wont load.

I could sum today up in one word - INSANE. Had one hell of a shoot though. Finally managed my first limit of green this season. I swear the wind gusts in our area had to be hittin 60+. At times you couldn't even walk in it. Wingnut - out in a boat? Now that's some crazy s**t.

Glad to see all you guys made it through O.k. Randy told me about the storm and saw a little on the news. Tell me duck hunters aren't some crazy b*st*rds. The only people crazy enough to bare this massive storm for sure. Congrats on the hunts too.

I also heard that I might be able to go to Cali and get like 10,000 goose decoys that might have blown away!!!!!!!

This was a wicked storm. Fun hunt.

Where we were hunting the winds got into the 70s. Shot a dry field and it was outstanding.

This is a good year to dredge up great memories. :lol3:
All this for a bowl of borscht.
