Mourning Doves ??????

Postby brooks264 » Fri Apr 09, 2010 8:21 pm

Going on mid-April, and no Mourning Doves  seen migrating/nesting into my SE Colo area. Over the past four years, I have watched a Eurasian dove pair, 2006, expand into a 19 bird flock in spring 2010. They love one particularly knarly cottonwood in my area. And that's only one tree! Anyway, I'm worried, the Mourning dove is indigenious to my area, Eurasians are not, have you seen any Mourning doves migrating/nesting , in your area, or just Eurasians??? Colorado is very liberal on Eurasian Collared hunting bag limits, if this population increase into the west continues, maybe we need to, as hunters/conservationist, focus on reducing the Eurasian Collared numbers during dove season.

Keep your eyes to the dove skies!

When asked where he went on vacation, Edward Teller replied, "half way across my backyard"

I have started to see a few mourning doves coming around. We shot somwhere around 200 doves opening day last year and 60% of those were eurasions.
