Cold front Ducks

Postby Screech » Sat Oct 29, 2011 11:46 am

Team mojo went out today on 10-29-11 not expecting to get into a whole lot but we were shocked and ended up with 1 redhead, 1 teal, and 4 shovelers. The morning was real slow all we had was a single teal come in and i was able to take it then we waited for a good hour with no birds at all, then finally we had a 4 shovelers come in and my brother was able to take 1. then we were standing and talking and all of a sudden we heard a zoom and we looked up and a single bird started circling and came in and i took it and i didnt know what it was and when my dog brought it to me and i relized what it was i was in total shock and it made my year, and then we had a group of about 20 shovelers come in about 30 minutes later and we got 4. It ended up being a good hunt and fun day.

Looks like a good hunt. I'm not positive, but it looks like you and your brother have some competition haha. I'm the same way with my brother. We are so competitive and I always have to have at least Shoot one more duck or goose than him.we had a day last year were I shot 4 ducks and 4 geese. My brother didn't shoot anything! Is was funny but I kinda felt bad. I always give him sh*t about not taking time to aim and just unloading all of his shells.

We actually work together real good. We always take turns shooting and its a blast. We make deals too that if me or my bro wants a specific duck like i want a redhead and its his turn shooting he lets me take it and I do the same for him. My brother is the ammo guy/ works with the dog, and I take care of the decoys and cooking and gutting them.

Very nice. I need to start doing that with my dad and brother. When there is only one duck, it doesn't make sense for everybody to start shooting it haha. I don't know if im lucky or not but I'm the younger brother and I always do better than my brother haha. And for cleaning the birds, it just kinda a group effort we just split them all up.

Oh ok. People usually charge In the mid 200s, I paid $275 for mine. But the worst part is how long it takes to get your bird back

Shootable- did whoever mounted your's do a good job? I'm either gonna get a redhead, can, or a goldeneye done this year and am trying to find a good taxidermist

Yes he does a very good job. I would recommend him to anybody. And actually I think it was $250 not $275. He has a mallard from my dad right now and I'll be giving him another duck hopefully this season. I can get you his number

Nope this our first time getting into them. We had gadwall, wigeon, wood ducks, mallards, pintails, scaup, redhead, and cans all over our pond yesterday. I hope this weekend turns into a good two days of hunting.
