Convinced my dad and brother to come up and hunt with me on a Friday morning early in the season before work and school and my brother killed 3 gads and my dad killed 2. All I got was the redhead but I was happy to see them get some shooting in. On the out I heard a shot from the other side of the property so I called my dad to see what was going on. He shot his first Chuckar ever which capped off a good hunt

We were hunting out of layouts on big water out east and had a group of 7 redheads working. They came in perfect and then all turned sideways and the last second when we shot. 6 of the 7 birds droped with the first four shots from the group. We all stopped shooting in amazement of the flock the was no more. We picked up the birds like normal and then when I was stringing them up in my blind I looked down at one of the drakes and fluffed up his feathers a bit and commented on how nice of a bird it was. Then I looked at his foot and noticed the band. This was the second banded redhead in 2 weeks so it was hard to believe. It was banded 8 years ago in Alberta

Nothing too special but this was the teal opener and I got my first cinnamon teal. Not the prettiest bird since it was mid september but I was proud of it anyways

Well I didn't even fire a shot this hunt. I took my middle brother and his friend on the youth hunt and they both limited by 8. This was probably my favorite hunt of the season. I've killed enough ducks so it was nice to put the two of them on the ducks and get to call and watch

I'd never even seen a Sandhill Crane before. They came in with a flock of lessers and then when the flock of geese moved on the cranes stayed. They circled for probably 5 minutes and we made the crane noises on our goose calls and they landed in the field behind us at about 50 yds. We killed 3 and then as soon as we got back in the blind a group of 40 lessers came in on a string

this year was slow and didnt have as many birds as last year, but it was still a fun season. still have 2 more hunts this season though.... :grooving:
#1 this was the only hunt we have had this season while it was snowing. it was real foggy for the last 30 minutes of legal shooting time. the two honkers came in with about 5 mins left and my dad shot them both. the ducks were all mine except for the green head which my dad also shot. there was one other gadwall from this hunt that didnt get to be in the picture because he was to beat up.

#2 heres the coolest duck i shot this year. even though its not in full plummage, it still i a good looking bird. i was thinking about mounting it but then i later found out about how its not mature. i had to retrieve myself off of a frozen pond. i was sliding on my belly and it started cracking. pretty scary haha

I dont have any pics of dead ducks as my season total was a measly 15 ducks,my worst season in 35 years of hunting.
I did however really enjoy watching my two Labs retrieve what few were shot.

I was working out there for the DOW so I didn't get to go out as much as I would have liked in addition to the weather being uncooperative... I did however make it out Christmas morning for my best hunt of the season at Tamarack. This was my pup's first season so I was pretty excited to finally be able to put a full limit of birds down for her to retrieve.
