Possibly moving to Leadville. Curious to how the duck and goose hunting is around there or if ducks and geese even travel through there. Are there any decent areas with in an hour from there? Hope someone can help me out. Please and thanks.

Never hunted there but I can tell you that it's just about the coldest place in the state

I'm no pro, but I have heard that down on the ark there is decent hunting. That's long river, so it's not much help. I'd stop in the fly shop Ark Anglers near buena vista, not the one down south. They know a lot about, well a lot in that area. There is an older guy named David who is very nice and full of information. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I figured there would be some in Chaffee county. Lake county seems to high and all the water freezes over pretty early I heard.

There are ducks and geese year-round on the Ark. The state land (ARHA) is huntable in some places, not directly bordered by the road. The closest to Leadville being the Clear Creek Res tailwater junction. Heck, I even saw a lone snow in the middle of the river a few weeks ago, and then again on the golf course here a few days later. I think it's moved on by now. A 2-duck day is pretty good before the river freezes, but you better have a solid dog to retrieve them.

Well I live in Summit right now. Didn't get to do any duck hunting since I didn't move till January. Moving either to Leadville or BV this winter. If anyone's in the area and would like to shoot some fowl, hit me up.

I got the waterfowl bug last fall in Michigan. I'm back down in Trinidad and looking for somebody to go hunting with. If interested, shoot me a pm.
