2013 Teal Season

Postby Slurpee l23l » Thu Sep 12, 2013 5:11 pm

I wish everyone good luck and post pics if you go. Im gonna go Saturday and try a pond but if that don't work I might hit the river. The weather this week should of pushed a bunch into CO. I just hoped they stayed instead of flying straight through. I've been seeing more everyday show up on the ponds by my place so it should be decent.

Haha lol yeah I messed up it is 2013. I don't know if its gonna be worth going with all this rain, the pond I was going to ended up being flooded so I'm not sure if the birds will be there much less me being able to put decoys out because the mud might do me in. I'm gonna give it a try but good luck guys.

This my new profile I'm screech023 it wouldn't let me log in so I created a new one just to let people I met and talk to on here know.

Had 200+ BWT on the pond Thursday and only saw maybe 50 all morning today. Took 9 out of the first two flocks and shot two solos after that. Not a stellar morning by any means but it was nice to finally see birds working again

We had a real foggy morning but we had 200+ at the pond we were at but with all the rain they didn't want the big pond and we only managed 2 but my cousin was able to take his 1st duck so it was good morning. I also had 4 pintail land right in my decoys.

We went out on Sunday and saw more teal then Saturday. I bet there was 300+ but they didn't even wanna look at the pond we were at they kept flying high and south. I managed to get a group of 3 to come in right before we packed up and my friend was able to take his first duck so it was a good weekend even though we just got 3 birds but number of kills don't make or brake a hunt in my opinion. I'm gonna go out Monday and scout and find a new place. I've got a couple spots I just hope there holding birds.

I went out yesterday morning but it ended up being a scouting trip instead of a hunt. I saw over 400+ birds in two ponds created by the rain in farm fields. I saw teal, spoonbills and pintail. There in my area but there is just too much water and they don't want the small pond I hunt on. It's strange because every year we tear it up teal season but this year they don't want the this pond.

We got out on some private land today and saw over 500+ teal and 100+ big ducks. I didn't shoot but I let my cousin and friend shoot since its there first year and they managed 1 but had a lot of shots. I'm looking forward to regular season it should be good.

Hunted flooded corn out east and shot 15 and lost a few more between the 4 of us. Not a ton of teal but the big duck numbers are really looking good
