Duck and Geese Loads

Postby jmpilot » Tue Dec 10, 2013 10:32 pm

Howdy..I live in the south Denver area and would like to know if there is any place I can shoot duck or geese loads. I have been shooting clays, but I would like to get a feel for the heavier loads. Thanks! J.

Never heard of anybody doing this but I'd say just shoot them wherever you normally shoot at

Thanks. Unfortunately, they have a 7 1/2 shot limit. J.

Duck I usually use 4s, but you can use between 2s and 4s. For Goose it is BBB or BB. As for the OP, there is no difference in "feel" between BBB and 7 1/2. The amount of shot pellets in a BBB shell may be less than the number of pellets in a 7 1/2, but you will not notice that when breaking clays. Your choke will change the shot pattern more so than what size shot you use.
2013 Season
Mallard 9
Gadwall 6
BWT 5
Canada Goose 4
Shoveler 3
GWT 2
Wigeon 2
Pintail 1
Ring Neck 1

BB and BBB? You're the guy that sits on the levees and shoots at birds a mile high aren't you?

lol hey i take offense to that! No I do not skyblast the geese, and I wish more people on public ground would stop that. Seems like you need to lease or find private land that isn't already apart of a hunt club to get into geese here. As for BBB or BB, it states on the back of the Winchester SuperX waterfowl load, "Goose ideal range 10/45 yards, Shot size T, BBB, BB" sponsored by ducks unlimited so I am not crazy!
