How many CT Duck hunters have seriously hunted rail?

Postby Joe Guide » Sun Dec 09, 2012 9:00 am

Connecticut used to have the third largest # of rail hunters on the atlantic coast. Sora rails in wild rice during flood tides were the order of the day ...back in the day when rail hunting was more popular. Just would like to know some people in Connecticut who had hunting them when it was the thing to do prior to duck season.

regards,

Ithaca and I went this season, he was more successful than I though. The CT coast looks nothing like what it did prior to ww2 which is when many were hunting rail

The past two years prior to now I dragged my friends out for rail season. We hunted a total of 7 times. It was good to get out in the marsh early. We did see two birds we thought were rail but had no luck. I would love to know if anyone hunts rail successfully.

When I lived in CT a couple of us would go out. Not a lot of birds but we killed a few every trip.
