Waterfowl Over The Holidays

Postby UGADawg » Thu Jan 02, 2014 11:34 am

Hope everyone had a nice holiday week.

Hunted Friday 12/27 and got the big old skunk - very few birds working on a local coastal salt marsh.

Hunted Saturday 12/28 on a local salt pond that holds good numbers of Gadwall. Picked off 3 Gaddy's, a Hooded Merg and a Drake Black Duck. The BD was huge - maybe biggest duck I've ever shot.

Hunted Sunday 12/29 in NY with a group of friends in town for the holidays and did real well.

Hunted Monday 12/30 back on the salt pond and got 1 Drake Gaddy. Fewer birds and the tidal conditions weren't as favorable.

Hope to get out tomorrow if possible but back at it over the weekend.

I love those every once in a while bruiser black ducks...this was 2010 on the Hudson...was absolutely the biggest black I have ever seen.

Back in 74 or 75 I got a HUGE red legged Mallard drake, wing tip to wing tip went from turn signal to turn signal across the front hood on my 69 VW Bug! WOW, was my Dad jelly, at the same time proud!

Somewhere I have a Pict. Have to find it.

By the way, congrats. on a huge duck!
