Opening day

Postby Major Woods » Thu Oct 18, 2007 5:59 am

Pops and I went up to Essex on the CT river for the opener, saw a couple other boats at the Old Saybrook launch ready to go out also.

Deployed the small spread and found a nice spot to set up in the brush. Pops shot a nice woody right off the bat then we did some pass shooting on a group of geese that got to close to us.

Ended up with 3 geese and 3 ducks for a short morning hunt. Then went to Cabela's for the afternoon.
Thousands on the boat.
Hundreds on decoys.
Time away from the wife....priceless

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck it must be dinner.

Great start Major.....was in CT over the weekend.....geese EVERYWHERE.....even could've shot in my Dad's backyard late in the day when a couple dozen buzzed over the trees......been sketchy up my way so needed a boost in the old stomping grounds. Sure wish I could hunt on Sundays, but had lot's of work to do at Dad's anyhow.
