3rd split

Postby hojo73 » Sat Dec 11, 2010 6:53 am

Well its time to get ready for third and final round, the only problem is everything is freezing up. I hope we get some warm enough weather to at least thaw out some ponds and some marsh areas. for example: there is spots on the Indian river that are froze up like up near Millsboro.

Now don't get me wrong, I love hunting in Ice but only in the last 2 weeks at Assawoman.

Don't worry Hojo, we're going to pull the trigger on something. Just might have to go to the "Hot Blind". Maybe you'll finally get a crack at one of these!!!

Ice is everywhere!....well mabye not everywhere, the big water i found is still ok, but all the small ponds and marshes are locked up. 1000 ac. and canal ponds are a hockey rink. not lookin good for the guys who gotta walk into their spots. hunted a pit at augustine this mornin, think that everything in the area would be frozen.......wrong!.......ohh well, no doubt it will get worse b4 it gets better.
Theres always someone out there thats better then you. I'm that guy.

Hunted this morning at Assawoman refuge with BigKC82 and another friend. After fighting the ice, we made a big enough jole for about 3 dozen decoys, and killed a 3 man limit

Most People don't count 9 Buffleheads and a Ruddy Duck as part of their limit. Hope they tasted great! LOL!

As an experienced poster, I would not disclose the amount of ducks we shot or the area, especially not the two of them together. If I told the amount, more people would show up to that area the next time that I go. If I were you guys I would of said we shot a limit of birds today at an undisclosed location. I guess that is your disgression. By the way we limited out on fulvous tree ducks, and blue wings. Oh and I almost forgot, One Eurasian Widgeon.LOL!!

Good shoot. I have heard good things about the Assawoman Bay when it gets cold. You don't have to worry about me..... I am from Northern Delaware and sold my boat. I do shoot the Chesapeake with a friend have not seen alot of cans yet. Have you seen any down your way?

Ruddy Ducks get such a bad wrap.....but the actually rudies are good table fare. The eat all the same invertebrates and whatnot as mallards, teal and pintails.....they just dive to get to them....

They were called the Dollar Ducks in the Market days....
