Lake Iamonia cleanup

Postby whaknstak » Sat Feb 25, 2012 3:21 pm

Me and waterdogds, along with three FWC officers, two FWC staff, some community service guys, and several other volunteers cleaned up up a full dump truck load of trash of the 12 side of the lake. Anything from beer cans to lazyboy recliners. The county truck driver said we probably had over 1500 lbs of trash after it was all said and done. It looks 10x better now, and I can only hope the people trashing the lake might think twice about littering after seeing us out there all morning.

Wish I would have known about this. Could have recruited several more players.

We helped out this year with a clean-up on the Flint River in Bainbridge. Man at the trash we left behind. The amount of trash on the shorelines is unreal.

Probably 70% was beer cans and bottles. It's ashame that so much trash come from fellow boaters.

It was in the habitat improvement thread. Thought we would have a few more dhc guys, but i understand people are busy. There will be more opportunities. We need all the help we can get. Glad to hear your doing setting an example in other areas. Keep it up!

Of course they were. Not many people voluntarily come out to pick up trash. It's sad but true.

Next time there is a clean up of one of our duck hunting spots, post it up, since I'm retired now I have more free time and would like to help.
