60 day season

Postby florida old guy » Tue Sep 11, 2012 9:30 am

With the duck population up 7% over last year and 43% over the long term average why does the Atlantic flyway only have a 60 day season ? The Central flyways gets 73 days and the Pacific gets 107 days, that's 56% more shooting days. :fingerpt: Anyone in this foroum have contact with any of the rule makers ?

72 views and not one comment. Is everyone OK with a short season?

Because if the season was any longer than that we would die. We are going on day 8 of duck season and I am all already messed up with sleep.

with the amount of pressure because of outrageous number of hunters in our area it would just make things worse. the ducks already have a hard time staying in around, i cant imagine what it would be like if we got to shoot at them even more

Over 40-50% of the usable space in Oregon/washington/california is preserved forested land. There is alot less pressure and alot less hunters in Oregon and washington. I know oregon has just over 3 million people and most of those people live in the cities. Its probly due to pressure and vailable space for the ducks. Florida a relitivly few places to hunt given the population of the state 25+ million people. Im fine with 60 days what i dont like is the relitivly few places to hunt we need more space.

X2..... Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays only in leon co. helps out. If people could blast them 7 days a week, it would definitely keep the birds on the plantations. Hell, out on Micc last year, Sundays were always slower because of them getting wacked the day before. Sure it sucks that the days are limited, I just find different places to go or blast the woodies during the week. If you want more hunt days, go out of state or get in on some spring goose hunts.

I'm with JAXDUCKman, not so much the amount of days as it is lack of legal hunt area. Could do without the split phase crap.
