Ok guys I have a question I own both a remmy and moss 870/500 both are 28" barrels the moss handles 3" while the remmy is a 3 1/2" shell both are syn black stock, which one do you all think would be best, as far as shooting I do dam fine with both, also what type of loads and chokes should I be using.
Either gun will do the job, but whichever feels best to you should be your choice. 3" #4 with a mod choke or improved cylinder choke will work. You should consider patterning both guns with a couple different loads and chokes. IMO, the lethality of your weapon is most effective at 40 yds and in. But different load and choke combinations will each perform differently. Find what's best for you. Many people, like myself, will have varying opinions when it comes to the gun, load and choke options. Good luck.
Thanks for the info. Like I said I feel great with both guns. I don't think I am better with one vs the other but I will def trY some loads out any suggestions

With a plethora of different brands, I'm not really set on one myself. A local sporting goods store recently switched from carrying Fiocchi shells and now carry RIO's. Although I liked and have shot the Fiocchi shells for a while, I bought a few boxes of RIO's and can't say that they haven't performed well for me. It's not economical to buy more than just a few different loads to try. Start with a brand you're familiar with, get 3" in #4 and #6. Shoot both through each gun and make your choice. Next season, if you're unhappy with how the shells you choose perform in the field, try a different brand. I personally wouldn't get any shells with a shot size larger than #4.
Remington, 870 express are great! But I will say my girlfriend just got the mossburg 935 waterfowl edition and its a good gun so far bad thing only shoots 3 an 3 1/2.
See I have heard that moss does have issues on the water. But i was chatting it up with a pt of mine who swears by his mossberg. I guess I will just have to bring both.
I gave the mossberg 935 a try a several years ago, it was probably the best patterning gun I've ever owned. It would short cycle shells and light strike primers though...got rid of it but picked a 835 pump for turkey hunting because i was so impressed with the pattern of the barrell they both use.
Remington 870 express is a work horse, most hunters own one. I started out with one. breaks down super easily, never had any issues. the wingmaster series has that classic look that will make you hang on to it and pass it down. The express is like a stripper that works the day shift, it delivers but not as pretty.
Shoot with whatever your more confident in. If you pattern them both out, you'll probably find the one.

If I remember correctly there isn't enough power from 2 3/4 to operate the gas system on the 935 reliably. I was never able to get them to cycle when I had mine.
My 935 cycles Federal 2 3/4" all day long. Had problems the one time I tried the Winchesters. If its a new gun make sure all the factory grease is cleaned out real well. Also, I recommend replacing the plastic safety with a metal version for cold weather hunting, had mine break on a 19 degree morning.
As for hunting loads my buddies and I ordered two cases of Federal #3s online this year. Got a great price with free shipping.
there is a reason the 870 is the number one selling shotgun of all time. I would not even hazard a guess how many rounds my express (3") has had cycled through it. Had to replace the forearm, so I switched it to synthetic. Very easy to do. Will definitely outlast me. Not my primary gun anymore (my son uses it for duck - it is still my turkey gun). I have killed duck, deer, turkey, hog, squirrel, dove, a charging possum (no kidding) and tons of clay pigeons. Very simple, very reliable.
