I still haven't killed a goldeneye. Seen them jokers out there. Even had one fly over the deeks this season and caught me off guard. Seen a group of 12 for three straight days and everyday on a different spot. Those things are hard to pattern.

Went on Wed....was going to just suck it up and shoot bills...the bills were gone and ringers moved in. I was off the X just a little but scratched out a few but I started the morning off with a nice hen can.

Got a buddy who told me they shot a pair of drakes back on my old stomping grounds above Talley.

Years ago I had a STUD drake fly within tennis-racket range of me on the St. Marks river about a half mile up from Shields. I think he was lost.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but blue wing teal are the first ones south and the last ones north. So doesn't that mean that most the ducks have already headed back north if we're seein blue wings again.

Not necessarily. Besides, that fulvous tells me they didn't kill those ducks in Leon county...looks like someone had fun in S. Florida.

I forgot about the ol golden eye but was reminded of that fact by a buddy that saw that post earlier today. I missed a hen last year while paddling out of a hole. Also had somebody run one down in front of me last year that was a drake.

Yes sir, any days off work are good days for sure. Hangin with a few pals and blasting some birds is the total added bonus.
