Two or three tropical storms would be nice

Don't know if you believe in the almanac or its predictions, but it calls for a wet spring and summer right on through late August. I sure hope its right.

It was fairly on point for this winter.

If its not one thing its another. This year lake micc was dried up and now next year it looks like jackson will be dry. Anyone know what the deal is over al imonia. I heard the dam broke over there right before the regular season. And with the way the water was dropping there i beleived that.

Jackson going dry has been happening for years my grandfather has told me stories of them working cows on the lake bottom when it went dry. The problem is there are so many retention pond for all the houses. The lake used to fill all the way back up within a year but now that the run off is diverted it will take a lot longer to fill up. As for the sink hole itself one of two things need to happen. One the hole files up with trash to plug it or the ground water have to come up enough to stop drawing it. Back in the 2000s they tried to fill up the hole with cement but the EPA axed that, so it will have to happen naturally and then fill up with just the rain water falling directly on it and the little run off that is gets now.

Back in June last year, this thread was started.....http://www.duckhuntingchat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=190831

In the thread, ChrisK posted a pic taken at Jackson of the sink hole. The same sink hole is in tmclaimer's pic. Lake Jackson will come back, it's hundred of years old and has come back before. The question is.....When will it come back?

Exactly when. It was down for more than a few years after it opened in what like 2004? The came back fairly good but the drought in 08-09 killed it again. Then it came back to the levels it was in the 70s and 80s (according to my dad) then it began to fall back down in the summer of 2011. I think my years are pretty accurate. It doesn't get the run off it used it because of all the storms water ponds

Only spot that is drained is what's in the pic. The north end and rhoden cove end are still holding same water levels

The copious amounts of rain we received this weekend filled the sinkhole up for now. Still dry across much of the area since nothing has saturated.

Im attempting to. Work has got me tied down a lot. Havent had a chance to really search new waters. Not much to offer in Hillsborough other than the bay. May have to do some traveling this year, come hunt with you guys more.

Yep, we'll be here for sure.
Hopefully the weather will be right and the birds will be moving down here sooner rather than later this year.
