Lake Okeechobee

Postby chris_k » Sat Apr 20, 2013 5:38 pm

Its big .... Really big.

Just moved from Leon County to Broward County. Today I made my first trip to Lake O and came to the realization that my 25hp Longtail won't cut it this duck season. Gonna have to save my pennies and get an Airboat :(

It's gonna be a rough season .... No more 15 minute boat rides to the spot every morning.

What about a surface drive. 35hp should get you around 30mph

While I agree that a bigger hp SD would probably do, I would be looking for any excuse to get an airboat.

welcome to the lake! and there are no ducks on lake okeechobee...

:)

when i first started running the lake 15 years ago -- rules:

- bring a gps and turn it on at the dock with track back
- bring extra water
- bring a cell phone and have some numbers of folks who live on the lake
- dont forget to charge your battery and fill your gas tanks

its a big lake, but its a fun lake. our scounting trips often take the entire day. and each area of the lake offers something different. from diver hunting, to puddle ducks, to whistlers and everythign inbetween. love it -- but we have to take care of her.

be safe and see you out on the lake!
