I found one....

Postby mgoldschmidt » Tue Sep 26, 2006 2:35 pm

well.... Thanks to Sid - and our Moderator....

I will be picking up my mud motor (Honda 5.5) tommorrow.

The guy who I am getting it from used in for the last 4 yrs. during duck season only - and drained the gas and oil after every hunt. He mentioned that it has LOW hours - and thats good.

He had it on his 14ft duck boat - and he said that it pushed him near to 15mph. - and thats good.

Im putting it on a 12ft (maybe a bit longer) VHaul aluminum boat.

I hope it pushes me well. Honestly, I dont think speed matters with a mud motor - Now that I can just GET OUT THERE!

Any thoughts?

Now get out there and scout for regular season. I wanna see 50 hours on that motor by then

welcome to the mud motor world. I hope the motor works great for you, but dont expect much in the speed department. hey its a mud motor, it aint about the speed, just appreciate the new places it gets you.

P.S. Go ahead and start saving for a bigger faster mud motor and a bigger boat.

After a season or two you wil definately want a larger (faster) motor.

mgoldschmidt- If you're interested in selling your 5.5 so that you can buy a larger one, let me know. I live in Leon Co. where we have a 5 hp motor restriction on most of our lakes during duck season. I've been told that a 5.5 is close enough for The Man to let slide. Let me know.
