15.4 Ghenooe Blind build???

Postby FishH2o » Fri Oct 11, 2013 12:48 pm

15.4 Ghenooe

I bought one and I’m getting ready to fixer up. The guy before painted and I would like to strip it down and start over. What is the best way to accomplish this with out damaging the fiberglass? I’m curious if acetone would damage the epoxy resins?

Also what would you guys use for a primer / paint for this. This will be my first duck boat blind to build so any input is greatly appreciated.

I used spray paint forever because the amount of scratches I collected while hunting with it. So I just wet sanded it down and used regular spray paint with stencils.

Thank you sir! We sanded down this weekend and cleaned. I am going to order the FME paint from Lock Stock & Barrell.

i used rustoleum bedliner on the bottom of mine its a nice durable coating helps me avoid all the abuse on the bottom when power beaching or pushing over logs and weeds.

Something to consider...your side supports will help reduce flexing of the sides, but without the center bench your floor is going to flex significantly without some form of reinforcement. Running calm, open water, it won't be such a big deal but throw in any chop or rough treatment ("jumping" small islands or vegetation) and it's going to flex and weaken.

The cross supports will be put in and a flor covering them.

Thought I would post an update. I've been so busy painting this thing. I put two coats of marine two-part epoxy primer, two coats of paint on the bottom and outside, and three coats of paint on inside. Tomorrow morning i will flip it and put another coat on the sides and bottom.
