Pet Ducks?

Postby Mud Chucker » Wed Feb 21, 2007 5:05 pm

Okay, here's the deal. A buddy of mine wants some pet ducks for his young daughter. I told him NOT to get mallards, so he asked what kind he should get, and kind of did the traditional "aaah, I don't know" routine. My first thought is maybe some of the white domesticated ducks, and feed them enough so they are too heavy to fly away. I truly have no idea though. Any suggestions? Next question, where to aquire them?

Thanks,

Bjorn

http://www.strombergschickens.com/stock ... erfowl.php

Thi is the safest place to order from...They will not ship banned species to Florida(mallard and mallard types)

Pekins ( white ducks ) are hearty, easy to raise and lay large eggs which are great eating, a little rich and give you a case of the mudbutt the first time you eat them but after that its all good.
Best food for ducks year round... DOG FOOD!!!
Doesnt get cold enough in the winter to supplement with corn.
